TSP Series

TSP 101 - Introduction To The Thrift Savings Plan

With a basic understanding of the Thrift Savings Plan, you likely chose your TSP allocation years ago and you might never have changed it. In this webinar, we’ll go in-depth on how the funds are managed and who has oversight of them. When the Lifecycle Funds were created in 2005, a set of specifications was used to determine future allocations. Those specifications were updated in 2017. If you’re using a Lifecycle Fund, you won’t want to miss this session to understand the changes.

TSP 201 - Building On The Basics

In this session, we’ll review the five funds within the TSP and how they are used to make up the Lifecycle Funds.  The Lifecycle Funds went through a significant upgrade in 2020.  If you’re currently using Lifecycle Funds, you’ll want to understand these changes and additions.

TSP 301 - Accessing Your TSP

We continue the series with TSP 301, where we will discuss borrowing from your TSP, taking withdrawals while working, and naming beneficiaries on your account.

We all know that things come up in life when you might need access to your TSP money. Knowing the rules around how to borrow and take withdrawals can help you make the right decision with your money.

TSP 401 - Advanced Topics

In this session, we’ll review your options for making withdrawals while you’re working (if you are age 59 1/2 or better!) and your choices once you retire.

One of the most common questions we get from federal retirees is, “How should I allocate my TSP to create monthly income?”  No matter where you are in your career, this question might have crossed your mind.  Understanding your options can help you determine the best course of action for you.

Financial Resolutions Series

January 2021 - Financial Resolutions

Over the years, federal employees have shared a lot of their financial resolutions with me. I knew that, just like me, they often had the best of intentions but a lack of follow-through.

In this webinar we'll cover:

  • A review of where you are
  • What was your best returning investment
  • TSP contribution limits and new catch-up provisions

February 2021 - Financial Resolutions

We'll cover the next three resolutions - building on what we covered in January:

  • A review of your current investments
  • Gathering tax information and check in with your tax professional
  • Reviewing W2’s and 1099’s

March 2021 - Financial Resolutions

Rather than only consider your finances annually, it makes more sense to address the idea of resolutions on a more frequent basis…like monthly. If this sounds intriguing, the 2021 Financial Resolutions Webinar might be what you’re looking for.
